Be Inspired Session featuring Brass Bird Photography

Is this personal work or client work ?

This is personal work. I oftentimes do not get to be in front of the camera, so I try to make a point to take photos with my family once or twice a year.

What about this session was most memorable?

Our session did not go as planned. Which, when does it ever? The youngest hadn’t slept all day, so naturally she falls asleep in the car and we wait until the very last minute of the shoot to wake her up. Then it started to rain. But, looking at the photos in Lightroom after we got home made me appreciate the art of photography and its ability to freeze a memory. What was memorable about the shoot was that I got to give myself the gift that I give my clients. The gift of documenting how fast my daughters are growing up and how right I was to pick my husband to be the father of those precious little people.

Where there any hurdles?

The only hurdle was trying to time the right moment to wake my youngest up and then having to furiously shoot once the rain started coming down.

Your best photographer/session advice?

Have fun. I get some of the best reactions by being goofy with kids and letting them run. Nothing makes you give a “JCPenny Portrait Studio” smile more than a dull photographer/client interaction!

What gear was used to achieve these?

Canon 5Diii, 50mm and 70-200mm
