A client engagement session with two fabulous people! Laurisa and Eric are getting married in 2017 and opted for a late summer engagement session to kick off the festivities.
What about this session was most memorable?
This beautiful, late summer day. Here in Michigan the weather is unpredictable. Sunny and warm one day, snowing the next! As a natural light photographer this is my biggest challenge. Laurisa and her handsome fiancé Eric had a vision for a dreamy, sunny engagement session… and after rescheduling once due to rain, mother nature gifted us this gorgeous evening! We rejoiced in the sunshine and frolicked around Belle Isle, Detroit for hours! Is this even a job!? Haha!
Were there any hurdles?
The beginning of this session was held inside the Belle Isle Conservatory. I shoot here quite often because it’s basically my favorite place. I challenge myself to use the space differently every time, but still stay true to my brand. I love comparing sessions and finding new depths of my style as I grow stronger as an artist.
Your best photographer/session advice?
I think it’s important to put yourself in your clients shoes. Be sensitive to what this experience is like for them. When was the last time you were photographed? What did it feel like to you? Use your own experience to better soothe the nerves of your clients. Once I let go of my “I’m the photographer” ego and switched my focus entirely to my clients and their needs… my photos transformed! Natural smiles and flattering body language for daysss.
What gear was used to achieve these?
I shot this with my beloved Canon 5D Mark III and a combination of prime lenses – the Canon 35mm 1.4 and the Canon 100mm 2.8 Macro.
