Tell us a bit about the magic of summer + the connection to your lens?.
The magic of summer for me is everything. I live in Canada where we get cold dark days for so many months out of the year. The ability to go out in the evening and feel the warmth of the sun, just makes my soul happy. I hope that it comes through my lens- I try to convey what I am not only seeing but feeling in that moment.
What about this session makes it an Epic summer session?
I think what makes this an epic summer session for me is the love that is flowing. This was a longtime friend of mine, so it was special to be able to experience the excitement of their engagement. They had a really short engagement, so while I did this shoot it was almost like “wedding” was in the background of all of our minds. It was really awesome. We couldn’t have had a more beautiful night, I didn’t manage to get any great shots but even the field that they were in had deer wandering through. It was just pure magic.
What else is on your summer bucket list to photograph this summer?
On my bucket list this summer is to photograph beaches and water. It is slim pickings for that where I live, so we are planning some trips to get there.
What gear was used to achieve these?
For this entire session I used my Canon 6D and Sigma 35mm Art lens
Any summer tips or photographer advice?
My tip for the summer if you want light like this is you have to stick to your guns about the time of day. This magical light is out only a couple hours before dark,( and although all day long offers lovely options) if that is what you are looking to achieve don’t jump into it too early in the day.
