This is personal work from a stormy afternoon at the beach with my kids!

Tell us a bit about the magic of summer + the connection to your lens?

I am lucky to live in Florida where it feels like one eternal summer! I love being able to take the kids to the beach year round. The magic of summer for us is certainly all of these amazing summer storms that start rolling in over the ocean. I am really drawn to dramatic skies so I get a lot more opportunity to shoot them now!

What about this session makes it an Epic summer session?

We were lucky enough to watch a storm roll in to the north of us but never had to get wet! An epic session for me are these gorgeous blues with stormy clouds and rainfall chasing the waves while we run around in the sun.

What else is on your summer bucket list to photograph this summer?

I am hoping to plan another camping trip to one of the gorgeous natural springs here in Florida. We went last year and the beauty of that place was beyond comparison.

What gear was used to achieve these?

I used a Nikon d750 and Sigma Art 35.

Any summer tips or photographer advice?

My best summer tip for shooting at the beach is to get a lens pen! One side has a brush so you can brush away all of the sand that your camera will collect and then I keep a lens solution in the other side that I use to spray a lens cloth so I can wipe away all the saltwater from my lens!

A session with me is wholly focused on taking the time to slow down and really appreciate long embraces, the art of discovery, subtleties of affection, and making time to say the words we don’t always stop to say. It is my desire to create photographs that do more than serve as proof that you existed, I want to show that you lived passionately and loved madly.
I’m also an educator. I enjoy sharing the way I see beauty with other photographers. One of my greatest joys is helping others find the confidence they need to create meaningful, authentic artwork for both themselves and their clients.
