BE INSPIRED Session| feature by Tara Visconti

Tell us a bit about your approach to the work you do, your time in the business and a few personal facts about you.

I have always had a love for photography and all things nostalgic. I didn’t really pick up a real camera until 3 years ago when my youngest was born. I have always been a creative person and being a newly stay at home mom with 2 teenagers, 1 toddler, and 1 newborn I was looking for a creative outlet. My husband bought me my first DSLR. I haven’t put it down since and I’ve also upgraded my camera and my lenses. While nursing my little one in the middle of the night I would research everything and anything I could on shooting in manual. Once I figured the basics out I was hooked? I have since taken many online workshops and join several momtog communities. I love Instagram and have made some dear friends there.

What about this session was most memorable?

This session was for me. And my littles. During the winter months, I love to embrace shooting indoors and finding new light. The local indoor Rec Center Pool has an amazing wall of windows. We went right after my sons preschool. Obviously, they had a blast and I enjoyed capturing their joy.

Were there any hurdles?

The only real hurdle I had was not being able to get all the way in the pool. I wanted to protect my camera and I forgot my suit.

Your best photographer/session advice?

I think the most important advice I have received and would definitely pass on is…. Shoot for yourself! I love following other momtogs on Instagram and definitely find a lot of inspiration there. But I like to make own art. So for example, I love music and movies. I draw a lot of inspiration for documentaries or even series that my husband and I binge watch. I love dressing my littles up and creating sessions for them. I have created a hashtag for the series if you’d like to follow along #izzyandloudressup

What gear was used to achieve these?

Nikon D7200

Sigma 35mm 1.4
