BE INSPIRED SESSION |Leticia Acosta Photography

Tell us a bit about your approach to the work you do, your time in the business and a few personal facts about you.

I’ve had a passion for photography since I was a child. Growing up with a photographer in the family allowed me to second shoot at weddings, quinceaneras, portraits and assist in sports photography as a kid. It was something I thoroughly enjoyed. I think my whole life I’ve been documenting through a lens. I love to look back at photos and every memory made. It wasn’t until 2012 that I started doing photography as a business. My husband is the one who encouraged me to take the leap and go for it. I also remember my sister being excited for me and instantly making business cards for me lol. It was nice to have the support of my family. I would say my approach to my work is about finding a connection with every client I have and building a relationship. I like to get to know the clients, their family, their likes/dislikes and get a better understanding of them and what they want from me as an artist. I want to know their vision and then do everything I can to deliver and exceed their expectations.

What makes you the most nervous during a session?

I don’t necessarily get nervous during sessions, but I do feel that I overthink posing. It stresses me out trying to think of so many poses. Lately, I’ve been really thinking that I want to shoot less posed and more lifestyle approach.

What about this session was most memorable?

Any time I get to shoot with a photographer friend, the session is automatically 10x’s more fun. Hannah invited on this maternity shoot that took place on a small secluded beach in Tampa. Because of its seclusion, it felt like the three of us were on our own tiny tropical island. We had fun laughing, exploring the area and just enjoyed the girl time. The client is effortlessly beautiful and was so in tune with the camera that every shot was perfect. I seriously love every image I took of her.

Were there any hurdles?

The only hurdle was the harsh mid-morning sun. We played with the shade of the trees, and at times used the direct light to create beautiful shots as well.

Your best photographer/session advice?

Communication between the client and I is pretty important. Besides the planning of the session, I reach out to them frequently and let them know I’m available anytime for questions. I think if someone is investing their time and money into you, you should make them feel like they are your top priority.

What is one goal for your business?

Marketing is something I really want to start doing heavily.

What gear was used to achieve these?

I used my backup camera for this shoot. A Nikon D7100 and 50 mm 1.8 lens.

Any presets used or hand editing?

I used Embrace 01 for this session.
