These images can convey a specific feeling. What do they convey for you?

These images convey hope and renewal whilst also reminding me that nothing lasts forever. The seasons continue in endless rotation but we only get to personally experience a finite number of them. For this reason, it’s important to slow down and cherish the particular season you are in and all that it entails. Whether in the midst of decay or renewal, warmth or frost, bright or dark – beauty can be found.

Tell us a bit about your approach to the work you do, your time in the business and a few personal facts about you.

I started my business just this year in 2018 and I am extremely proud of how far I’ve come in the last 10 months. I’m fostering great relationships with my new clients which I know will translate into repeat interactions for years to come.

Interesting fact: Prior to opening my business, I began with food and toy photography where I practiced my craft without the additional pressure of human subjects or client deadlines. My toy photography was featured in a print publication that serves as a signature showcase platform for the creative toy community.

I currently reside in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada with my husband, two kids and rambunctious labradoodle.

What type of work is this? Personal or commercial?

Most of my still-life photography is for my own personal edification however I do make select shots available for purchase through my website.

Your best photographer/session advice?

Slow down, breathe and then operate with the intent to capture something really special. Become a hunter in search of those small in between moments. They are often the hardest to initially see but will likely be the most revealing.

And of course, always be considerate of the story you want your photography to tell.

Oh yes, and when culling images don’t be too hasty to discard the ones that aren’t technically perfect. Some of my absolute favorite images I’ve found by taking that extra minute to examine them from a more creative angle.

What is one goal for your business?

I would like to become a Click Pro and I’m building my portfolio toward that goal. I’m very excited about it in-between and I’m enjoying the journey.

What gear was used to achieve these?

Canon EOS Mark 3 with my 50mm 1.2 lens

Any presets used or hand editing?

I often start off with a VSCO or Tribe Archipelago preset as a base and then adjust from there until I achieve the desired mood, tones-between, and overall feel that I’m looking for. I do my primary editing through Lightroom and then bring it into Photoshop for the final touches.
