During the first seven years or so, I tried many editing styles. Over that period, I probably bought all actions available on the market emulating the ‘look of film’. irth can be unpredictable. When things don’t go quite as a family hoped they would, I feel a special calling to piece together the moments in order to create the most uplifting, yet authentic story that I can to honor that birth journey. I am often texting back and forth with my clients in the weeks after they view their birth stories, helping them process the events and reconfirming to them how strong they were and sharing all the ways that I can validate their birth experience.
Don’t fake it. I see so many photographers who say they are documentary but they want to go around turning on and off lights and opening and closing windows and oh, maybe the light would be a little better if you read that story a bit closer to the window? Now, I know a lot of people love lifestyle photography.
